H.E.A.L. (Honour Elevate And Love) Her Podcast
I'm Makini Smith!
After going through a divorce, my sister passing away, experiencing narcissistic abuse, and some significant health scares, I realized through sharing my story that I wasn't alone in my suffering...suffering; subjective distress generated by the experience of being out of balance.
In a deep dive to holistically heal mind, body and soul, is where I discovered peace, clarity and connection.
It is impossible to be truly wise without some real-life hardship. And we cannot develop post-traumatic wisdom without making it through and, most importantly, through it together.
Social connection builds resilience, and resilience helps create post-traumatic wisdom, and that wisdom leads to hope. Hope for you and others witnessing and participating in your healing and for your community.
A healthy community is a healing community, and a healing community is full of hope because it has seen its own people weather--survive and thrive.

Thursday Oct 31, 2024
In this powerful episode, host Makini Smith sits down with Brian Proctor, son of the legendary personal development leader Bob Proctor. Brian shares an intimate look into his journey of personal growth, healing, and resilience, especially in navigating the grief of his father’s passing. They discuss the importance of community support in the healing process, the concept of "post-traumatic wisdom," and how social connection and resilience build hope. Brian also reflects on lessons from his father, emphasizing the value of living with purpose and creating a legacy that empowers others.
Brian Proctor, author of My Father Knew the Secret – Growing Up with Bob Proctor and the newly released 12 Easy Steps to Change Your Life: Stop Waiting For That Big Thing!, was born in 1961 in Toronto, Ontario. That same year, his legendary father, Bob Proctor, began his 60-year journey in personal development after being introduced to Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich.

He found his niche in marketing and business development, playing a pivotal role in shaping the company’s early digital strategy. Long before email list building became an industry standard, Brian initiated the idea of building an email platform to amplify his father’s teachings, setting the stage for the company’s long-term success.
As an online marketer, Brian became a top affiliate in major product launches, generating millions in commissions and helping many entrepreneurs gain exposure to large audiences. He attributes his success to the invaluable lessons he learned from his father, particularly in cultivating meaningful, lasting relationships.
Now self-employed, Brian lives with his wife Cory at the southern end of Puget Sound in Washington State, where he enjoys a life of fulfillment, surrounded by nature and the serenity of the water.
Key takeaways:

Thursday Oct 10, 2024
Thursday Oct 10, 2024
In this heartfelt episode, Tanya Deonarine is a remarkable woman who embodies resilience and strength. Tanya's journey has been shaped by profound personal experiences, including the loss of two siblings and surviving trauma, which she openly shares with us. Her story is a testament to the power of perseverance and the importance of community in healing.
We began our conversation by exploring Tanya's childhood aspirations. As the oldest of six children, she always envisioned herself as a mother and a helper, a dream that has beautifully manifested in her life today. Tanya's early memories are marked by challenges, including the loss of her brother at a young age and the recent passing of her sister. Despite these hardships, she has chosen to rise above her circumstances, using her experiences to foster connection and support for others.
Tanya's relationship with her firefighter husband adds another layer to her story. We discussed the unique challenges of being married to someone in a high-stress profession and how they navigate the complexities of their family life together. Tanya emphasized the importance of understanding and patience, both for herself and her husband, as they support each other through the ups and downs of life.
As a mother of two boys, Tanya is deeply involved in their lives, including managing her older son's racing career. She candidly shared the struggles of being a "momager" in a sport often dominated by wealth and male figures. Tanya's fierce, protective nature shines through as she advocates for her children, teaching them to navigate the challenges of bullying and societal pressures.
Throughout our conversation, Tanya highlighted the significance of self-care and emotional expression. She believes in the power of sharing feelings and experiences, both for herself and her children, to foster a healthy emotional environment. Her mantra, "Just have a day," serves as a reminder to embrace each moment, regardless of its challenges.
This episode celebrates resilience, love, and the strength of community. Tanya's story is not just about overcoming adversity; it's about finding hope and purpose in the face of life's trials. I encourage you to listen closely, as her insights and experiences can inspire us all to embrace our journeys and support one another in healing.

Angie Martinez "Navigating Relationships Through Attachment Styles"
Thursday Oct 03, 2024
Thursday Oct 03, 2024
Angie Martinez highlights the significance of alternative healing methods such as meditation, Reiki, energy healing, and manifestation in her personal growth and spiritual journey. She delves into the impact of childhood attachment experiences on adult relationships, elucidating different attachment styles—anxious, avoidant, disorganized, and secure—and their influence on one's relational dynamics. Angie underscores that one does not need to be fully secure to cultivate a healthy relationship; having a secure partner can facilitate personal growth and security. Emphasizing self-love and self-respect, Angela encourages individuals, especially women, to align their behaviours with personal values to foster secure relationships. Angie views sabotaging behaviours as signals of unmet needs, advocating for self-awareness and adaptive coping mechanisms, and uses meditation and EFT tapping to realign with her true self based on her human design.
Key Takeaways:
- Understanding attachment styles, such as anxious, avoidant, disorganized, and secure, can provide insights into relationships.- Transitioning from anxious attachment styles to secure ones within relationships can be accelerated by being with a secure partner.- Enhancing security within relationships involves self-discovery, self-respect, and aligning behaviours with personal values.- Sabotaging behaviours can indicate unmet needs and offer opportunities for growth and self-awareness.- Recognizing when one is out of alignment based on human design and frustration level can help realign with true self through meditation and EFT tapping.Self-awareness and proactive approaches are key to addressing overwhelm and lack of focus by tuning into one's body and emotions.
